Record Store Day '24

11 Apr 2024

With Record Store Day right around the corner, we're gearing up for a celebration. Record Store Day started as a way to support independent record stores and has since grown into a global phenomenon all about embracing vinyl and connecting with fellow music lovers. In a world of digital streaming, Record Store Day reminds us of the magic of holding music in our hands. With Pretty Green at the intersection of music and fashion, we thought we’d show our support with some of our top picks and recommendations for the crate diggers out there. Maybe you can add some of these to your grab list when you’re queuing up next Saturday.

Pulp - Intro - The Gift Recordings

This collection, originally released in October 1993, just prior to the band’s debut album on Island Records, includes all the singles Pulp recorded for Gift Records, including both the A-sides and B-sides. Available for the first time on exclusive blue vinyl - a must have for britpop completionists.

Blur - Parklife (30th Anniversary Edition)

Blur’s seminal britpop album ‘Parklife’ changed the landscape of the UK music scene forever upon its original release in 1994. The album turns 30 on April 25th, and to kick off celebrations, Parlophone are putting out a limited edition zoetrope picture disc.

Miles Kane & The Evils

Recorded with PG faves Sunglasses For Jaws, ‘Miles Kane & The Evils’ is an exclusive colour vinyl pressing of Miles’ surf rock instrumentals, only available in physical format. He says, “this surf mini album is me having my guitar front and centre imagining I’m in a badass Tarantino film.”

Divorce - Heady Metal

One of our favourite new bands Nottingham four-piece Divorce will be re-releasing their latest EP ‘Heady Metal’ on colourful vinyl with alternative sleeve artwork. If you’re on the hunt for something new to wrap your ears around, you could do a lot worse than Divorce’s unique country-tinged grunge.

Temples - Sun Structures (10th Anniversary Edition)

Temples’ 2014 debut ‘Sun Structures’ was a landmark album in the UK psychedelic rock revival of the mid 2010s. This year it celebrates its 10 year anniversary, and with this comes a special double-vinyl edition, with a stunning mirror board sleeve and blue discs.

Bloc Party - The High Life

Bloc Party’s latest EP ‘The High Life’ will be available on four blue splatter vinyl, and is the first physical release for the EP which has so far only been available digitally. This EP sees the band continue to experiment with genre and mood - frontman Kele Okereke calls it “the sound of coming out of the wilderness and re-embracing life”.
