Autumn 2022 Parka Round-Up

A true menswear staple, the parka may have its origins in the Canadian arctic but it was the British mod movement of the early 1960s that really brought this iconic piece of outerwear into the popular culture firmament. It was adopted by these music loving youths after they discovered there was a treasure trove of American parkas to be found hiding in army surplus stores up and down the country. This loose fitting and warm jacket proved ideal for putting on over their expensive Italian suits in order to protect them from dirt and oil when riding around on their scooters. Further popularised by the resurgence of mod culture thanks to the release of Quadrophenia in 1979, the popularity of the parka continued to rise, perhaps reaching its zenith in the Britpop climate of the 1990s.
Now a timeless fashion icon, the parka remains an evergreen product (in some cases literally) that continues to hold its appeal to a variety of generations and diverse musical movements. Needless to say the Parka has always been held with high regard here at Pretty Green too and remains one of the key pieces that defines the rock’n’roll attitude that runs through the DNA of our brand. To showcase this further we have picked out some of our favourite pieces from this season in our Autumn 2022 Parka round-up.
CASSETTE PARKA
A seasonal update of our best-selling cotton twill Cassette Parka. Now featuring four front pockets alongside paisley lining throughout. This fishtail parka has a regular fit with a front zip placket closure and features an adjustable drawstring hood, hem and waist to be assured of a comfortable fit. Available to shop in Khaki and Black.
FREEMAN M-65 PARKA
The ultimate fishtail parka, the Pretty Green Freeman M-65 is styled on the classic American military design. Constructed with an authentic oversized fit using heavyweight cotton twill, this garment washed, padded jacket features tonal paisley cotton quilted lining, a faux fur collar and an embroidered logo to the sleeve.
ALLOWAY PAISLEY PARKA
Designed for layering up whilst providing protection from the elements, the lightweight Alloway Paisley Parka features a dense gabardine outer bonded to our seasonal paisley printed cotton. Additional detailing includes a front zip fastening with a snap stud placket closure, adjustable drawstring hood, two front flap pockets and and embroidered sleeve logo. Available to shop in Navy and Khaki.
CYCLONE SOFT SHELL PARKA
Taking a tech angle to keep you warm and dry, the highly breathable and super flexible Cyclone Soft Shell Parka is constructed from water-resistant fabric bonded to an insulated micro fleece lining. Complemented by a fully lined, three panel hood with a handy rear bungee cord adjuster, additional technical features include a rib storm cuff and reflective Pretty Green logo on the right sleeve. FAIRFORD PARKA
Generously padded with a tonal paisley quilted lining for optimum warmth the Fairford Parka also features a detachable faux fur trim, signature branded buttons and an internal pocket with snap stud fastening. Available in classic Navy and Khaki colourways, this heavyweight outer shell parka will see you right through the colder seasons in fine style.
N-3B PARKA
The most premium heavyweight parka in our current collection, the heavyweight N-3B takes off from last season’s Thermo Bonded parka. Its seam sealed, water-resistant shell features substantial wadding throughout with a microfleece hood lining for the ultimate in comfort and warmth that can handle the harshest of winters. Available to shop in Black and Navy.
LOMAS OVERSIZED HOODED PARKA
The heavy twill Lomas Oversized Hooded Parka is another classic fishtail design that has proved popular with customers over a number of seasons. Lined throughout with our signature paisley (including inside the protective hood) this durable cotton parka also boasts two front slant pockets with snap fastenings, adjustable button cuffs and and branded logo sleeve badge. Available to shop in Green and Black.
CREEDENCE PARKA
The slim fitting, lightweight ripstop cotton Creedence Parka is an ideal layering piece for transitioning between the seasons. Constructed with reinforced elbow patches alongside an adjustable drawstring hem and three panel hood, the Creedence also features contrasting buttons and flat knit cotton draw-cords.
